Spotlight

I wrote this poem in the aftermath of Anna Nicole Smith’s death 5 years ago. I was home sick from school and they were discussing her death and the surrounding circumstances on Dr. Phil. And I got frustrated because I didn’t get why people couldn’t let her death rest in peace without a big spectacle. Really, it could go for any big celebrity and their families who has had an untimely death in the past few years, to include Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, and most recently, Whitney Houston.

Spotlight

In one instant, a life is changed
Suddenly, everyone is watching
Now, everybody cares
What you do, how you do it
It’s all out there, ready for people to criticize
Good or bad, it can be seen by all
There is no sympathy
It’s all just a good story
You try to hide, but are sought out
This is the price of the spotlight.

Mr. Blue Sky

You may know me as Mr. Blue Sky
I hid away for so long
Where you went wrong?
It wasn't you, it was me

I got in a fight with Mr. Gray Cloud
He won
So he got to stay out
And I had to hide away

Spork

I took on the challenge of writing a poem about sporks. It really isn't that good, but it's the best I can do for now. Maybe someday a better spork poem will come along

Spork

Hello Stranger, do I know you
In your plastic guise
You look like two of my buddies

Spoon, a curvaceous gal
Great for my cereal or soup
But otherwise ignored by me

Fork, a prong-y guy
Works well with Knife
And used for almost everything

What's that you say?
Spoon and Fork merged
Now together as Spork.

Dear Dead Poet

Ever have one of those days when you wanted to eat everything existing in the house? That happened to me today when I got home from school. But I didn't eat the entire contents of the house. I just had some cereal and cheese. I mean, I had to save room for dinner........

But that's not why I'm posting. The other day, I wrote a poem kind of spur of the moment. I thought it was great and so did a friend. So I decided to post it here. Just remember, it's great if you want to use the poem somewhere, but it would be very nice to ask me first and to give me credit. Otherwise it could be considered plagirism.

Dear Dead Poet

Dear Dead Poet,
I know you're dead
But I gotta make a statement
It's the 21st century
I don't understand the language
Why'd you have to write
With such big words
Common people need a dictionary
You're only understood by nerds
When I read your stuff
I don't know how deep to dig
Your metaphors are great
But still, I'm just a kid
When you hide the meaning
I get all confused
Are you being literal
Or must I pay my dues
To my English teacher
To decipher what you've used
