Crime Shows

I decided the other day that I have a strong attraction to watching crime drama/cop type TV shows. When I was little, it was JAG and Diagnosis Murder that I liked to watch. When JAG went off air I became fascinated with NCIS and then 6 seasons later NCIS:LA. I also liked to catch the occasional episode of Cold Case.
Now that I’m out of the house I watch a little more TV than I used to and have added The Mentalist, Bones, Criminal Minds, and while it was on, The Human Target. I was just introduced to Hawaii 5-0 (old and new) a few weeks ago and love that too. And let’s not forget about Alcatraz that just started as well. Just about the only shows not in this alphabet soup mess of shows are the CSI and Law and Order franchises (with the exception of Law and Order:SVU). I never really got or liked them. They may be successful, but I just don’t like how the plots and story lines were set up.
I don’t know why I like these shows so much, but I’m not gonna overthink it too much. If I do that I won’t have any brainpower left to figure out whom the bad guy is before the cops on the TV shows.

Spotlight

I wrote this poem in the aftermath of Anna Nicole Smith’s death 5 years ago. I was home sick from school and they were discussing her death and the surrounding circumstances on Dr. Phil. And I got frustrated because I didn’t get why people couldn’t let her death rest in peace without a big spectacle. Really, it could go for any big celebrity and their families who has had an untimely death in the past few years, to include Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, and most recently, Whitney Houston.

Spotlight

In one instant, a life is changed
Suddenly, everyone is watching
Now, everybody cares
What you do, how you do it
It’s all out there, ready for people to criticize
Good or bad, it can be seen by all
There is no sympathy
It’s all just a good story
You try to hide, but are sought out
This is the price of the spotlight.

Yes No

I love watching shows that have some sort of musical focus. This usually manifests itself as musical competition shows, but Glee has captured my imagination a bit.
To be honest, the plot sucks. The story lines go in crazy directions and I mute half the show because I don't want to listen to the stupid monologues or conversations.
But last night was completely different. The music selections were pretty awesome. The whole story lines with Sam/ Mercedes, Will/ Emma, and Finn's future were pretty cool. I would have liked to have seen a little bit more of Santana, the Sam/Mercedes story line and a little bit less of Will/Emma. But overall, it was one of my favorite episodes of the show. Ever.

Thanks for the memories

I may be an artsy person, but I am not the most crafty person. This is why my most recent accomplishment is so big. I made a t-shirt blanket out of a bunch of old t-shirts from childhood, high school and a couple donations from my family.  It's 4 blocks by 5 blocks and double sided.

It is by no means perfect. The rows are crooked, there are a few mis-stitches, it's not completely squared up. But it's mine. My shirts, my memories, my smiles. And now I have them for as long as the blanket will last.

Memories are a cool thing. They bring back all sorts of emotions and reminisces about different times. When I was back home I found and took back with me a pair of shoelaces I've had for several years. They've got memories too. How else could I truly remember all the great slide tackles I had if it weren't for the grass stains on those shoe laces?

Speaking of memories, remember when Thierry Henry played for Arsenal? He's back on a brief (2 month) loan from Red Bull New York and he's already making even more memories. Arsenal won today against Leeds in a third round FA cup game because of a goal from the legend.

X

Tonight was the finale performances for The X Factor. All Josh, Chris, and Melanie are all worthy of winning, but I'm rooting for Chris. He has some of the most entertaining, captivating.
Josh has a really nice voice. If I'm just listening to him I almost hear Lee DeWyze. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why they would have Alanis Morrisette on to sing with him. They blended really well, but to me, Morrisette is a one hit wonder. I guess the producers don't. Ironic, huh?
Melanie has an amazing voice and I would almost root for her. But as much as I LOVE late 90's R&B (think Mariah and R. Kelly), she had no variety throughout the season. Each week sounded almost the same. She wasn't as bad as that kid Drew for lack of variety, but it came close sometimes.
Chris's voice isn't that great, but something just draws you to it. He's versatile and fun on stage. He's written some of his own stuff and its good. And........... he performed with Avril Lavigne tonight.
That's just my opinion on things. Tomorrow night will show how much of America agrees with me.
